The first permanent non-indigenous peoples settlement at Buffalo was established around 1789, but many people do not realize that a very highly evolved quasi-democratic society known today as the Iroquois Confederation was operating in this region dating back even before 1500's.

Our history also includes the recent past, with events like the unrest of the 1960's and anti-war movement, the Blizzard of 1985, the gambling issue, or anything that might influence future history.
