(Buffalo Courier) Dateline...Feb. 28, 1872 Whats next? As if the terrors of earthquakes, volcanos and tidal waves, as well as the threatened winding up of all sublunary things through the process predicted by the Millerites, were not enough to keep our sensitive nerves unstrung, now comes one of those ever searching European astronomers, and claims to have discovered a new comet more gigantic than any heretofore observed, which, with incredible velocity, is heading for this unfortunate world and will arrive on the 12th day of next August. Its advent will first be manifest by the unusual heat that it will produce on this planet. The comet will come in a very bad time of year for this latitude, for we ordinarily have it quite hot enough about the 12th of August, without the assistance of any firery comet headed toward us.
