IN THE CANAL Dateline...(Buffalo Courier).Jan. 16, 1873 -About ten o'clock yesterday forenoon a horse and sleigh, belonging to Messrs.. Ripent & Keller, backed into the canal near the Erie street depot. The sleigh was broken up by the collision with the ice, and the horse, breaking through, was hurt, and narrowly escaped drowning. Patrolman Pollard and Craig, of the first precinct, with the assistance of citizens, rescued the animal after much exertion. |

Dateline...(Buffalo Courier) Jan. 16, 1873 -The lager beer brewers of this city and vicinity held a meeting Tuesday, and organized under the name of "Bier Brauer Verin of Buffalo." Their regular meetings will be held on the second Tuesday of each month. The following officers were elected for the ensuing year: President- Gerhard Lang Vice President- Magnus Beck Treasurer- F.J. Jost, Sen. Secretary- J.F. Kuhn
